Elements (triplicities)

The four elements—fire, earth, air, and water—are the classical building blocks used to sort the twelve zodiac-signs. Each element links three signs that share a broad temperament, not identical meanings.

Fire (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) is associated with warmth, spontaneity, and direct action. Earth (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) emphasizes stability, craft, and the material world. Air (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius) stresses concepts, language, and social perspective. Water (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) concerns emotion, memory, and depth of bond.

Element balance in a natal-chart is a quick diagnostic: many planets in one element can describe a dominant life tone; sparse elements may point to skills developed through experience rather than innate ease.
