Panchang (detail)

The panchang describes lunar–solar rhythm at a place and time:

  1. Tithi — lunar day (12° Moon–Sun elongation steps); Shukla (waxing) vs Krishna (waning) halves.
  2. Vara — weekday; each ruled by a grahas (Sunday Sun … Saturday Saturn).
  3. Nakshatra — Moon's mansion; changes roughly daily—see nakshatras.
  4. Yoga — Sun+Moon sum divided into 27 yogas (auspicious/inauspicious names).
  5. Karana — half-tithi unit; 11 karanas rotate with tithi.

Inauspicious windows (tradition-dependent): Rahu Kaal, Gulika, Yamaghanta—vary by weekday and sunrise.

Use panchang for muhurta elections; natal judgment still rests on lagna and bhavas. Provider: vedic.panchang.
