Human Design types
Your type comes from which centers are defined and how motors connect to the Throat in the bodygraph. It describes aura, correct pace, and role in the whole — not a personality label.
Humanity is mechanically divided into four auric Types in foundational IHDS teaching (population shares are approximate):

Not-self themes are feedback — signals to return to type-strategy and authority, not moral failure.
Mind vs body
Seven-centered humans relied on mind for decisions. Nine-centered beings are a juxtaposition of two data sets — the dilemma is letting the mind decide from openness (conditioning) instead of the vehicle’s Strategy and Authority.
