Orbs

An orb is the allowable deviation from an exact aspect angle. If two planets are 88° apart, a square (90°) may still count within a 2° orb.

Orbs are convention, not astronomy. Typical Western natal ranges (tighten for minors — minor-aspects):

Aspect Common orb (personal planets)
conjunction up to 8° (wider for Sun/Moon)
opposition up to 7°
square / trine up to 6°
sextile up to 4°
Quincunx up to 2°–3°

Use consistent orbs within a reading so emphasis does not shift arbitrarily. Software may expose orb presets on the same longitudes as planet-positions.
