Wheel reading order
A repeatable order keeps natal-wheel reading coherent. Adjust for client questions, but beginners benefit from structure before free association.
1. Chart shape and environment
- Note hemispheres (above/below horizon) and quadrants (which life sectors dominate)
- Scan for chart-patterns: stelliums, T-squares, grand trines
- Mark retrogrades among personal planets
2. Angles and lights
- ascendant (1st cusp) — presentation and chart orientation
- midheaven (10th cusp) — public role and vocation style
- sun and moon — conscious direction and emotional habit
3. Personal planets
4. Social and outer planets
- jupiter, saturn — growth and structure
- uranus, neptune, pluto — collective and slow personal themes (often generational by sign)
5. Houses and topics
- Walk house-1 through house-12 for empty versus occupied sectors
- Compare angular (1, 4, 7, 10) emphasis with cadent houses — see houses and modalities
6. Aspect weave
- Majors: conjunction, sextile, square, trine, opposition — respect orbs
- Optional nuance: minor-aspects
7. Refinement
- dignities for traditional tone
- decanates for sub-sign grain
- Timing: progressions; relationships: synastry
