Aspects

Aspects

Aspects are specific angular separations between two chart factors along the ecliptic. They describe how planets and angles “converse”—blending, supporting, challenging, or polarizing themes.

Major aspects

Aspect Angle Note
Conjunction conjunction
Sextile 60° sextile
Square 90° square
Trine 120° trine
Opposition 180° opposition

Software applies an orb (orbs) so near-exact contacts still count. Majors dominate first-pass reading on the natal-wheel.

Patterns and minors

  • Patterns — T-squares, grand trines, yods: chart-patterns
  • Minors — quincunx, semisquare, quintile, etc.: minor-aspects (tighter orbs)

Cross-chart synastry uses the same vocabulary between two people’s planets. Calculation uses the same longitudes as ecliptic-longitude.
